Trevor Anderson, born Belfast, Northern Ireland, March 3, 1951. Trevor Anderson started out at Irish League Portadown before he signed for Manchester United for a transfer fee of £20,000 in October 1972. The Ulsterman then made his debut for United when he took the field as a substitute for his fellow forward Brian Kidd in a vital 2-0 First Division victory against Southampton at The Dell on the 31st of March 1973.
The highlight of Trevor Anderson´s rather short career at Manchester United arrived when he scored the winner in a 1-0 First Division triumph against Don Revie´s Leeds United at Elland Road on the 18th of April 1973. After playing in only 19 League matches for United, Anderson moved on to Third Division team Swindon Town for whom the rocket-heeled and tricky-footed striker notched up 35 League goals in 131 appearances for The Robins between 1974 and 1977. In December 1977, he decided to sign with fellow Third Division side Peterborough United where he contributed six hits in 49 League games for The Posh before he joined Irish League club Linfield at the end of the relegation season of 1978-79. A Northern Ireland international, he hit two goals on his full debut for The Green and White Army in a 3-0 World Cup Qualifier win against Cyprus at Craven Cottage on the 8th May of 1973, and went on to gain 22 senior caps for his country.
