Paul Ince

Paul Emerson Carlyle Ince, born London, England, October 21, 1967. An adventurous midfield playmaker, Paul Ince appeared for several clubs in his career, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Middlesbrough, and Wolves.

Born and brought up in London, Paul Ince started out with local side West Ham United where he accumulated a total of 93 first team appearances for The Hammers before he was signed by Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson for a transfer fee of £1 million in the autumn of 1989. The Londoner would ultimately go on to make his mark at Manchester United and he went on to appear in well over 200 matches for the club between 1989 and 1995. While at Old Trafford, Ince won two Premier League title medals as well as two FA Cup winner’s medals and one winner’s medal each in the European Cup Winners’ Cup and Football League Cup before he fell out with Ferguson and was sold to Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan for a fee of £7.5 million in July 1995. After spending two highly successful years in Italy, Ince was transferred to Liverpool for a fee of £4 million in the summer of 1997, but after a row with manager Gerard Houllier at the end of the 1998-99 campaign he left The Anfielders for Middlesbrough who where managed by former Manchester United teammate Bryan Robson. The ball winning midfielder also appeared for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Swindon Town before he finished his playing days with League Two team Macclesfield Town in 2007. An England international, he made his full debut in a 1-0 friendly defeat against Spain at El Sardinero in Santander on the 9th of September 1992 and proceeded to win 53 caps for his nation. Never afraid of speaking his mind, Paul Ince always stood up for his beliefs and it´s probably fair to claim that he made it to the very top of the game simply by being himself.
