Christopher Roland McGrath, born Belfast, Northern Ireland, November 29, 1954. Chris McGrath was offered an apprenticeship with Tottenham Hotspur in January 1972. A fast and feisty wing forward, he made his Division One debut for the club in a 2–0 win over Arsenal at White Hart Lane on the 13th of October 1973.
At Tottenham Hotspur, Chris McGrath appeared in 39 First Division matches for the North London team and he was member of the White Hart Lane Squad which reached the UEFA Cup Final in the 1973-74 campaign only to lose 4-2 on aggregate to Dutch Eredivisie club Feyenoord. After a loan period with Third Division side Millwall during the 1975-76 season, McGrath was bought by Manchester United manager Tommy Docherty for a transfer fee of £35,000 in October 1976, but the flankman only managed to notch up 28 League Division One appearances for The Reds before he moved on to North American Soccer League outfit Tulsa Roughnecks for whom he played 44 games. Then, in 1982, the restless player signed with Hong Kong club South China where he finished his football career. Internationally, Chris McGrath was handed his senior debut for Northern Ireland in a 1-0 British Home Championship victory against Scotland at Hampden Park on the 11th of May 1974, and went on to collect 21 full caps for the country of his birth.
