Robert William Savage, born Wrexham, Wales, October 18, 1974. Robbie Salvage signed his first professional contract with Manchester United in 1993, but he never broke into the first team. After leaving the club in 1994, he played for Crewe Alexandra, Leicester City, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, and Derby County, and also had a loan spell with Brighton.
Following his rejection by Manchester United, Robbie Savage signed up with Football League Second Division club Crewe Alexandra for whom he made 77 Football League appearances between 1994 and 1997. With his fame spreading, he was lured to Leicester City by Filbert Street head coach Martin O’Neill for a transfer fee of £400,000 at the beginning of the 1997-98 campaign and was a member of the side that won the League Cup by defeating Tranmere Rovers at Wembley on the 27th of February 2000. The all-action midfield player would later appear for Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, and Brighton & Hove Albion before he ended his active days in 2008. On the international stage, Savage accumulated 39 full caps for Wales after making his senior debut for his country in a 1-1 UEFA European Championship Qualifier draw against Albania at the Qemal Stafa Stadium in Tirana on the 15th of November 1995.
